The seat of The Royal Sultanate of Sulu is in Astana Putih, Tausug for “White Palace,” located some two kilometers southwest of the Spanish Walled City of Jolo, in Umbul Duwa at the present municipality of Indanan in Jolo Island.  Jolo is the capital town of the Province of Sulu that is within the present geographical jurisdiction of the Republic of the Philippines.  The Royal Sultanate of Sulu was thrice moved to other locations including the last one at Darul Maimbung.  The Sulu Archipelago stretches from 10deg N longitude to 4deg 30' latitude and encompasses an area of 1,670 square miles.  It is 14.4km NNE of Borneo Island in gorgeous Celebes Sea from where this Timeline commences its chronology.

Josiah C. Ang is a native of Jolo. He now lives in California.  He is interested in anything "Jolo" or "Tausug"-- history, people, food, dances and songs.
